NCR i.e. the National Capital Region is a prominent region to live, work and experience modern-day lifestyle. Over the years this area has witnessed expansion and development on both urban infrastructure and social infrastructure have been the focus for all the Governments.
To clear the traffic congestion on NH-8 stretch, the central government is planning to extend Gurugram-Mumbai Greenfield e-way project to DND flyway in Delhi. The proposed Gurugram-Mumbai expressway which was launched by Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in April this year will further decongest Delhi connecting Gurugram with Mumbai via Mewat in Haryana and Dahod in Gujarat.
According to sources, till now it was decided to build this expressway between Gurugram and Mumbai, but now an addition of new eight-lane road of 58 km is proposed under its expansion with a construction cost of around Rs 2,000 crores. The road will connect Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) near Sohna with the DND Flyway in Delhi.
The Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), which is also known as India’s first smart and green highway is almost at the verge of completion and will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi by the end of this month.
Giving information on this, Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari told reporters that the Prime Minister will dedicate the 135-km six-lane access-controlled expressway which is built at a cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore to the nation by the end of this month. This e-way will help to decongest the increasing traffic of national capital.
