Anita Meshram, the divisional commissioner informed that the district administration will commence land acquisition for Jewar Airport by January-end. The authority will acquire acquiring 1,334 hectares land for the proposed airport.
She further said that the administration already sent its report on the land to the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh State Government. This report is sent under Section 19 of the Land Acquisition Act and the same will come into action once the notification for land acquisition is issued by the Government.
Meshram also said that the administration went through a tough time for the project and finally got all the necessary clearances at multiple levels. The Divisional Commissioner was quoted saying, we are in a situation to commence land acquisition. We are expecting this process to begin from January-end. This airport will also change the economic dimensions of Jewar as it will bring in more development.
After which she said that Jewar airport project is strategically located and is suitable at this locale while considering its close proximity to the National Capital Delhi, Noida and States like Rajasthan and Haryana.
Meshram was quoted saying, this is a perfect location as there is no major development projects, wetland or heritage site in a neighbourhood that could get affected.
The Jewar Airport is planned to be developed in four phased manner. The Uttar Pradesh State Government and Noida Authority both will contribute to the project fund at a ratio of 37.5% each. Whereas, YEIDA [Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority] and Greater Noida Authority will contribute 12.5% each.
The Yamuna Authority recently deposited a development fund of Rs. 74 crores to the State Government. On the other hand, the State Government also released Rs. 2,852 crores as a compensation amount for farm owners.
The administration is hopeful that the land acquisition process will be completed by February-end.
Balram Singh, the Additional District Magistrate (land acquisition) also informed about receiving of farmers consent and door-to-door survey after which the administration drafted a rehabilitation & resettlement report.
He was quoted saying, we have completed the report and have submitted the same to the Government.
The locals also demanded to name this proposed airport as Jewar Airport as it gives the development an original identity.
However, the divisional commissioner said that both the project name and Inaugural date is to be finalized yet. The Yamuna authority submitted the project’s bid document to the State Government last year.
