Decor Ideas to Make Your Room Look BiggerNowadays, when the real estate prices are touching the sky, all you get for a ‘reasonable price’ is a small-sized flat. But a small space does not mean that your room should look cramped. Following a few simple steps, you can add the magic of space to your decor so that your home looks bigger and better.

Here are a few ideas to help you plan a decor that makes your room look bigger:

Paint in Light Colors-
If your room is smaller in area, going for darker shades would not be a good idea. Dark shades sure look trendy but they make the room look smaller. Go for lighter hues like white, off white, beige, almond, light blue, etc., to add a sense of space to your room.

Declutter- An already small room will look even smaller if cluttered. Try to keep the room as clean and arranged as possible. Remove unused furniture. A clever way to set up the furniture is to keep it a little away from the wall. This creates an illusion of spaciousness. Try bringing in multi-functional furniture such as ottomans with built-in storage spaces. Do not fill the entire bookshelf or showcase; leaving it empty in parts creates a sense of space.

Place mirrors- One of the easiest ways of creating space illusion is to keep large mirrors on walls. Do not put it on opposite walls. Rather, keeping a single oversized mirror on only one wall would make it the statement wall.

Go for a Monochromatic Theme- Instead of going for different colors on different walls, put different shades of same color on adjacent walls. Choose a synchronised furniture color. For example- You can select different shades of white such as beige, cream, snow, vanilla, off-white, etc.

Let the Light in- The more lights enter the room, the more it looks spacious. Open the windows, or if not possible put transparent white curtains.

Create a Focal Point- Most of the interior designers create a focal point in their decor style. For example, instead of putting many small furniture, put a single big one that attracts all the attention. Once a focal point is created, the entire room will look more spacious.

A few detailing here and there can do magic to your decor. Time to start planning your small sweet home in a smart way!
