You can keep decorative plants in the garden but they should not be three feet high. If you want to keep swings they should be in the east or the north. The house of your pets like a bird cage can be placed in the north-west corner. Sitting areas are best planned in the south and west directions, but they should be facing the north or east.

A garden needs a focal point it can be anything, like a fish aquarium or a pond or some landscaping or a fountain that is visually comforting and inspiring. It can also be the idol of your deity or a small swastika or an Om or anything pleasant.

As a rule the garden has to be kept clean and free of litter. Make sure to remove the dry leaves, creepers and trim the hedges on a regular basis. The lawns should be mowed regularly as they create an environment for the flow of energy. A pathway from the front gate to the main entrance will prove quiet beneficial. On each side of the path grow some herbal plants like basil or flowers like jasmine avoid growing trees in the middle of the path. Fruit bearing trees should be planted in the east direction and a rock-garden can be made in the southwest corner. If there is a swimming pool in the garden then it should face the north or north-east direction.

A swimming pool in the south or south-west or center of the garden should be avoided. The fountains and ponds should follow the same principle as that of the swimming pool and if they are placed in the center then they will cause problems with respect to mental peace and health. Fountains, ponds and artificial springs are beneficial if placed in the north-east.
