In a recent meeting, the UP Government has given its approval on the social impact assessment (SIA) report that encompasses the details of the land identified for the development of Jewar Airport. The meeting took place few days back in Lucknow in the presence of UP chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey, members of Noida International Airport Limited, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India and other UP government officials.
During the meeting, PwC gave a presentation about the concession agreement draft to the chief secretary. After the meeting, a senior UP Govt official said, “The UP government will first approve the SIA report in the cabinet, and then issue a notification to make way for land acquisition,”
He further added that as per the suggestions by the government, PwC India and officials of the central government’s planning department will study concession agreement modalities. We will revise the concession agreement and hopefully get approvals for selecting a developer for the project.
The UP Govt has ordered officials to revise the concession agreement draft for discussion in the next 10 to 15 days. Once this will be done, state Govt will issue notification for selection of the developer.
Apart from this, the Govt has also given its nod for Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), which will supervise various work involved in the development of Jewar Airport. Till now, YEIDA is the nodal authority for the proposed Airport. After the notification for NIAL will be issued, it will take over the whole project.
As per the officials, all the three authorities i.e. Yeida, the Greater Noida authority as well as the Noida authority will have their stake in NIAL. While the CEOs of Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway authorities will be the part of NIAL, other members will include director of the civil aviation department of the Uttar Pradesh government, the secretary, finance, of the Uttar Pradesh government, and the secretary, industries department of the Uttar Pradesh government.
