Noida home buyers will finally get possession of 50k awaited flats

Good news for Noida home buyers! A final notification is on its way to resolve the matter of demarcating and securing the eco-sensitive zone around Okhla Bird Sanctuary. This issue created a major hurdle for homebuyers to get possession of their flats.

As reported by the Times of India, Noida MP Mahesh Sharma held a meeting with Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar. He made an announcement that the Center has finalized the no-construction zone at a radius of ‘100 metres’ around the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. A final notification regarding the same will be released in the next few days.

The issue sparked over a year ago when the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordered the Noida authorities not to give completion certificates to the residential properties that fall within a radius of 10 km around the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Later it was decided to bring down the eco-sensitive zone to 100 metres on three sides- west, east and south. However, on the north side it was set at 1.27 km.

The long delay in the arrival of a final notification cost over Rs 2,000 crores to the builders and homebuyers. Over 50,000 apartments were ready but the possession was pending due to the NGT order. Reputed builders like Amrapali and Supertech had several flats ready and undelivered. Neither the builders nor the homebuyers were clear about the final notification.

After the prolonged legal battle, the final notification has brought a sigh of relief for the builders and buyers. Homebuyers, who were shelling out EMIs awaiting their dream homes, can finally get possessions now. The matter has been speeded up and possessions will be given as soon as the final notice arrives. The stay on the construction work will also be revoked and work will start in full swing. Time is again in favor of Noida Real Estate.
