After receiving the consent of more than 70% farmers for the land acquisition of Jewar Airport, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration is now working on the proposal for the same of the proposed Jewar international airport project which will be prepared by this week. According to the authority officials, the UP government is expected to start the acquisition process by the end of October.
A senior authority official has revealed that currently they are preparing the proposal for the acquisition and as per the procedure; the process will begin after UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath approves the social impact assessment (SIA) report.
UP chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey had already approved the SIA report in a recently held meeting in Lucknow. Confirming on the news, Surya Pal Gangwar, special secretary (civil aviation), in an official letter said the state government would soon transfer Rs 1,500 crore in the account of district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar for compensation to farmers whose land is being acquired.
Giving more information on the above, BN Singh, district magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar said, “The chief secretary has approved the SIA report. But let the report be approved by the CM. Once that is done, we will send the proposal. Our preparation for the proposal is at an advanced stage. If the SIA is approved by this week, we will send the proposal within this week only,”
The SIA report which the UP CM will approve is prepared by Gautam Buddha University’s eight faculty members. These members include people from different streams like environmental science, civil engineering, architect, social work, economics etc.
Few days back, the UP Govt has also announced to invite bids for the appointment of the developer for the Jewar Airport in the month of November. The State Govt is preparing the bid document in consultation with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Last month, a delegation of 26 farmers led by Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and YEIDA Chairman Dr. Prabhat Kumar met the chief minister Yogi Adityanath and discussed the airport project. The CM had expressed happiness as more than 70% of farmers have happily agreed to give their land for the airport project. The UP Govt is also in talks with industrialist and other companies to provide employment to the affected farmer and their families.
