In a recently held meeting between the state government officials, it has been decided that the foundation-laying ceremony of the project would be performed before Diwali this year and both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the ceremony.
Giving more details about the foundation ceremony, state govt officials said, “The airport project received in-principle approval from the Centre on April 23. The foundation-laying ceremony is likely to be performed towards October-end as Diwali falls in the first week of November.”
They further said that PM Narendra Modi along with UP CM Yogi Adityanath would be attending the foundation stone-laying ceremony which would take place before the Diwali celebrations.
It is also said that YEIDA, the main nodal agency appointed to look after the work of Jewar International airport, is planning to soon float the scheme for development of hotel, motel, plaza, shopping center and convention center around the project.
“An investment of about Rs 80,000 crore is expected in the first phase with plans for star hotels, laser plaza, shopping complexes, convention centers and world-class market chain being planned, benefitting the region significantly and the farming community at large.” Said, officials.
PricewaterCoopers (PwC), who has been appointed as the consultants for the airport, has released a latest Technical Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) which says that the airport project is expected to generate about one lakh employment opportunity.
The TEFR also claimed that the airport will be ready in 36 months from the foundation stone laying ceremony. As per the report, around a total of 19,000 crores would be incurred towards land acquisition and construction works.
Few days back, a meeting which took place between the minister of state, civil aviation, Jayant Sinha and other top officials of YEIDA, in which the center has directed YEIDA, and PwC to prepare a bid document in order to select a concessionaire, who will develop the international airport. The civil aviation ministry also said that they will invite suggestions from the public before finalising the RFP. The MoCA fixed a timeline to float the RFP in July.
It has been decided that the construction of much awaited Greenfield Noida international airport will start before 2019. The work of the first phase of the airport is predicted to be completed by 2022-23.
