Good news for the residents of Greater Noida (west), Noida-Greater Noida authority has finally decided to start the planning of extension of this route once again. There will be two links; one will connect sector-71 to Knowledge park-5 and another will be from the sector- 142 to Okhla bird sanctuary metro station. Authority will now send this proposal to Noida metro rail corporation (NMRC).
With a total of 9 stations, the whole stretch of Sector-71 to Knowledge park-5 will be of 14.15 km and will be completely elevated. Estimated at a cost of Rs 3884 crore, the Metro corridor is expected to ferry 1.23 lakh passengers daily. On the other hand, the second line will be developed at an estimated cost of 2127 crore.
According to Alok Tandon, chairman, Noida- Gr Noida authority, “In the coming years, a metro connectivity will play a very important role in easing the increasing traffic of the area. Also with many real estate developments, more residents are coming to this area and hence a metro route is the need of the hour.”
As of now, around 16,000 families have taken the possession of their homes in various residential projects of Greater Noida-West and it is expected that the population will rise to over 10 lakh in the next three to four years. According to the rise in population, there is an acute need for such infrastructural projects in the area for the seamless flow of traffic and better connectivity.
Greater Noida metro: Trial to start from April 15
In a recent report, it was announced that the trial on the 30km Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor is set to begin from April 15. This link is expected to benefit nearly 15 lakh people, has 21 Metro stations in sectors 52, 51, 50, 78, 81, Dadri Road, sectors 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 153, 149, Knowledge Park 2, Knowledge Park 1, Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Delta 1 and Depot Station. Around 20km of the line is located in Noida and the remaining 10km in Greater Noida.
